Back to the Border, Canada

No Passport stamps, but it still takes about 45 minutes to have everything checked and be allowed back into the country.

Time to Leave, Canada

Out front of the house just prior to the Americans departing to return home.

Haley and the Guys, Canada

Johhny and Cora have three sons. Here they pose with Haley.

An Interior House Shot, Canada

The house is huge. Eight bedrooms, kitchenettes in the bedrooms for the foreign students, two living rooms, two regular kitchens. Here you see the less formal living room. Annie says she wants a flat screen tv like this.

Here is a picture of the houses in Cora's neighborhood. You can see that they are tightly packed together.

Dinner Time, Canada

I think what I was told was they went to an Italian restaurant for dinner. If so, this is the only picture I have of it. And for some reason I like this picture!

Admiring Cakes at Goldilocks, Canada

Looking into Vancouver, Canada

This picture definitely has a "Canadian" feel to it. Jagged mountain peaks overlooking a modern city. Apparently, Annie and Haley are not so hungry that they cannot take a moment to enjoy this beautiful place.

Time for Food! Goldilocks in Canada

A famous Filipino fixture is "Goldilocks". They specialize in filipino meals and desserts. (In fact, Annie and Haley brought me home some of the cakes. They were great!)

Interior of Mall, Canada

Off in the distance, they pose for a picture.

Stopping at a Mall, Canada

Yes, bamboo in Canada too. Annie says the mall was beautiful. She and Haley did some shopping.

This is where Lorna Lives, Canada

Lorna and her family live in a flat in this building. This is a lot like Hong Kong. There, people buy living spaces in very large buildings. Kind of like condominiums here, only more designed for larger families.

A More Official Picture While Visiting Cousin Lorna, Canada

Lorna has two boys. Her husband remained in another room the entire time of the visit. So no picture of him.

Annie Visits Cousin Lorna, Canada

Annie visits her first cousin Lorna at their flat in a town some thirty minutes away from where Johnny and Cora live. Haley, Rose, Dan, Danika, and Cora join Annie for this trip. You can see Lorna with Annie on the left side of the picture. The other lady in the picture is unknown to me. Annie says she is a friend of the family. (picture by Haley...can you see her reflection in the mirror?)

Haley Practicing Basketball, Canada

Although the house is huge (eight bedrooms), there is very, very, little yardspace. In fact what you see here is the only useable space outside the house. There is a basketball hoop set up and Haley, true to her word, is practicing. She tells me she made 11 free throws in a row. Nice!

For this time, Annie splits off from Haley. She goes to the beach with Rose and Danny while Haley heads out with the college kids to go swimming.

In the Kitchen, Canada

Cora and Johnny have a house with eight bedrooms. Foreign students then board there while going to college. The girl next to Haley is famous in Japan. Not sure what for, and not sure why everyone holds up two fingers. Maybe for "peace" sign?

Zucchini Quiche

Not to be outdone by potatoes, here's a picture of a zucchine quiche I made today using zucchini from the folk's farm. Last fall I froze bags with 3 cups each of zucchini. Now all I need do is thaw the bags and put in the rest of the ingredients. Here you see zucchini with chopped ham and onion. Delicious!

Potato Tribute

yeah, I know. Kind of weird having a picture of potatoes amongst all our people photos. But I am so happy that we have these potatoes from the folk's place. Pretty amazing that Haley and I planted seed potatoes last June, dug potatoes this last November, and now we still have plenty to eat! And, let me tell you, they are great tasting too! So there you have it, my tribute to potatoes.

Final Sallye Alexander Clinic Picture

A final group picture with star post player, Sallye Alexander. (NAMS, Forest Grove, OR)

Posing With Sallye Alexander

The end of the clinic and Sallye takes a moment to pose next to her #1 fan.

Showing Her Free Throw Form

At the free throw line. (irony: This is Sallye Alexander's clinic and for this past season Haley has been emulating Sallye's shooting release. Many, many times in our practices at the park I would be shouting, "Sallye Alexander, Sallye Alexander!", to get her to follow through on her shot release. Now she does!)
