Annie and Family Head to the Beach!

Here is something not many of us experience. Riding in the back of a "jeepney" in the Philippines. In this picture you can see many of my family members with mucho food stuffs piled in the middle. They rented a jeepney to take them to the beach from Lipa (South of Manila) for an overnite trip. I am jealous!

Parker's Monkey at the Back Door

This a picture that only dog lovers will understand. Parker has some favorite toys. This is a Christmas Monkey and when I got home after first shift this morning, Monkey was sitting at the back door where I come in. It means Parker had been at the door with his toy waiting for me.

Back Then...Oregon State Police Picture

Found a group picture from the summer of 1974. I spent two summers ('73, '74) as a "Cadet" for the Oregon State Police before entering full time the fall of 1975. This picture was taken at Camp Rilea over by Seaside. Both summers I served in Tillamook, patrolling the Cape Kiwanda/Sand Lake area.

Sushi, Anyone?

Today, thanks to Annie's Supervisor at work, she and I had lunch in Portland with other co-workers at "Todai", a Japanese seafood buffet at Pioneer Place Shopping Center. A very interesting restaurant. (forgot the camera, picture from Annie's cell phone. This picture is on the covered walk way above Morrison Street. blue/yellow Todai sign just to side of Annie. Oh, and that's the parking garage in the background too. I *am* a wealth of information!)

Bowl and Chair

Feeling artsy-smartsy today. This is a picture of my favorite bowl and chair. (we were at Goodwill this last Sunday and the bowl was "Half Off Green Sticker" day. This ceramic bowl had a green sticker so got it for less than a buck! And this is the chair I sit in at meals, I'm so special...)

Parker Loves Mighty Dog (and Annie)

Today Annie is Parker's hero. Annie came home with another stack of Mighty Dog dog food! Thanks to coupons they are all free... this makes all of us very happy!

The Sniff Test

For our formal portrait I admitted to wearing slippers. Yvonne Fendley Bradeen asks, "N, Are those your formal slippers?". To answer this question I took a sample to my little friend Sniffy. His response assures me that, yes! These are indeed formal slippers!!

We are getting a dozen free stationery cards, but needed to have a photo to put on them. So, thanks to Haley's friend Asia, we got the picture you see in the center. The others are all the "bloopers"!

Plants Sneak Out for Some Sun

Can you imagine a happier day for an indoor houseplant than when they can sneak out for some sunshine on a warm, spring afternoon?

Not "Foot"...Fruit Rollups

In Annie's free groceries picture (http://bit.ly/dd95sn) Steve thinks Annie is getting free body parts and asks, "What's the "Foot" thing?". This picture should help clarify (fruit rollups by the "foot"!)

Nice Little Dog

Okay. I love dogs. This little dog always gets my heartstrings going. It is the most shy dog. When Parker and I approach, it immediately goes onto its back in submission. I always try to be friendly but that plastic cone I think totally freaks Parker. We stop and talk for a moment, then continue on our way.

Is Spring Here?

Sure hope spring is coming to stay.
Steve in Costa Rica has this picture of "Reina de la Noche" a beautiful lilac type plant he has at his front gate. It can be poisonous in tea so if Steve ever invites you for tea... you are warned!!

Parker Before Walk

Another soggy day here in Forest Grove, Oregon. In this picture we have Parker, excited to get going on our morning walk.

Our Niece Kharen

It's a strange world. We have stereotypes of what
different professions look like. But when you
are a stewardess working out of the middle east
(Dubai), you will look different! Our niece, Kharen,
is on the left side.

We only see this face on rare occasions. In this case, when it is time for a bath. Parker thought he could hide under the computer table. Sorry, Park...

Annie Spoils Plants!

Annie loves to spoil plants. We found this "corn plant" wasting away at a garage sale a couple of years ago. Annie treats this plant like it is in a retirement home. During the winter months, on nice days, she wheels it out to the backyard. Here you can see it enjoying a bit of sunshine and the crisp northwest air.

Newest Kitchenaid Project

Newest project for the Kitchenaid? Pandesal and Subway-style bread. Pandesal is a sweet bread routinely eaten in the Philippines. I like it so much I call it the "Filipino Viagra". Here is a picture of Annie with the dough before it goes into the oven.

Learning Tagalog Using Pimsleur Method

"Language Tip" New Year's Resolution to become conversational in Tagalog (Filipino language) leads to the Pimsleur Method. The courses are purely listen and learn. No pen, no pencil. I am impressed and found inexpensive way to take the course. Go to pimsleurmarketplace.com and look around. Regular price for comprehensive lessons is over $300. Courses at this site are about $160 and they will buy your course back for $100. Even with shipping ('bout $10 each way) it still is a bargain.
