Haley: In Costa Rica

Yesterday, after 5pm, Haley left PDX (Portland, Oregon airport) with a group of about 30 students and adults to spend 8 days in Costa Rica. They had two stop-overs. The first was in Salt Lake City, Utah. And the second was in Atlanta, Georgia. Today, around lunch time, the group was scheduled to arrive in San Jose, the capitol of Costa Rica.

From April to November it is the rainy season in Costa Rica. But the temperature is generally mild year round.

Haley stayed in contact by texting on her phone until she left Atlanta this morning. She said she was having a good time, that she slept well on the plane from Salt Lake City to Atlanta and that she was able to watch Larry David on TV (lucky girl!). I repeatedly reminded her to take pictures and her mother repeatedly reminded her to keep her belongings safe. (She is probably happy to be far from all our nagging!)

I have left several emails in her hotmail account and understand where she is staying they have access to a computer so I am hoping to hear from her soon.

Haley arrived in Costa Rica around lunch time on Tuesday, June 19th. This was taken about 1:30pm their time (only one hour ahead of us here). I think it is the best picture of her there.

Party at Judith's on Father's Day

Today is Father's Day. Annie and Haley gave me a nice Timex "Expedition" indigo watch and took me to the movie, "Ocean's Thirteen". We went to Dad's too, and gave him a card and a nice bamboo plant. On the way to the party we also dropped by and gave Dad and Mom some chowmein. Mom gave Annie a cute bear set and then we went to Annie's friend's house in Bethany. Only took a couple of pictures. They have a beautiful place and the food was delicious!

Day at Hagg Lake

Let's see. This is another one of those "what exactly is this party for?" kind of parties. Annie says it was a graduation party for Haley. But Marilou showed up with "happy birthday" signs and balloons. I think maybe this was just a great day for the amigas (Annie, Dina, Marilou, and Brenda) to get together and have some fun. A new fella, Greg, married a filipina from the mobile court that Marilou lives in and they have a boat, so Greg brought his new wife and the boat. The ladies took turns riding the boat and the rest of the time was spent relaxing along the lake, and having delicious picnic food.
